Yusuf Naeem Abd El-Hakim
Backend & Full-Stack Engineer · Builder of commit_
Backend-leaning software engineer who builds and ships full-stack systems in production. I design REST APIs and data layers with Java/Spring Boot and Node.js, craft modern frontends in Next.js/TypeScript, and handle deployment and security end to end.
I came up through business and data analysis before going deep on engineering, so I scope problems against real outcomes and build the systems that solve them. A stint in offensive security (OWASP Top 10, Burp Suite, AD testing) means I build with the attacker's view in mind.
// writing
I write about backend, databases, and infrastructure on Medium (@binhakim).
commit_ is designed, built, and deployed solo on this stack:
commit_ is free forever.
No credit card. No paywall. No ads. If commit_ helped you build a study habit, finish a program, or land a job — consider buying me a coffee.
Server costs
Database hosting, edge functions, email delivery, and CDN bandwidth. Every session log you save has a cost.
New features
Study Groups, the mobile app, better analytics, AI recommendations — time to build these comes from support.
Keeping it free
No paywall, no ad tracking, no premium tier. Support is what makes that possible long-term.
// from the founder
I built commit_ because I couldn't find a tool that treated self-teaching seriously. Every tracker I tried was either too simple (a habit app) or too heavy (an LMS). I wanted something that felt like software engineering: sessions as commits, programs as repos, velocity as a signal.
I'm a solo developer. commit_ is fully bootstrapped — no VC, no investors, no monetisation plan except “keep it free and maybe someone buys me a coffee.” If you've used it and found it useful, that's all I wanted. Support is entirely optional and genuinely appreciated.

// not in a position to donate right now?
That's completely fine. Using commit_ is enough. The best way to support the project for free is to share it with someone who might need it.

commit_ · finish what you started learning
A personal curriculum tracker for self-taught developers. Design your program, log your sessions, keep the streak alive, and earn certificates when you finish.
